Darleen Ann (Calabrese) Hoey, 66, of Franklin, Massachusetts passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2021 at Landmark Medical Center. Darleen was born on January 22nd, 1955, one of six children born to the late Edward and Edythmae Calabrese of Franklin, MA. Darleen, a graduate of the 1973 Franklin High School class, worked 35+ years for the state of Massachusetts as a dedicated and caring Assistant Director for the Wrentham Developmental Center of Wrentham, MA and Fernald State School of Waltham, MA. 

Darleen is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister Cheryl L. Nigro. Darleen is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Michael Hoey, of Franklin, MA; her two children, Eden M. Hoey and significant other, Dustin S. Hagood of Franklin, MA, and Michael R. Hoey of Sierra Vista, AZ; her brother Ronald E. Calabrese and wife Karen of Bellingham, MA; her brother Brett M. Calabrese and wife Doris of Mechanic Falls, ME; her sister Kimberly M. Godfrey and husband Mark, of Milford, MA; and her sister Tracey A. Harmon and husband Jim of Venice, FL. 

Darleen is also survived by countless nieces and nephews. The newest addition to the family, Asher Knox Hagood of Franklin, MA, he is Darleen’s only grandchild, born September 4, 2021. Friends and family of Darleen will always remember her for her beautiful gardens, her love for acts of service, and her love for the ocean, especially the beaches of York Beach, Maine. Darleen was a fanatic for New England fall weather and dressing up for Halloween and being spooky.

Darleen treasured holiday get togethers so she could be with the great big family that she loved oh so much. One of her absolute favorite things, something she will always be remembered for is the way her smile seemed to shine extra bright on the first snow fall of the year. Darleen loved to laugh and loved to love, and she always made sure to show that side of her to everyone. 

Darleen was always so spirited, and she will always be remembered by the people she touched and the memories she helped to make. 

Her calling hours will be held at 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday September 11th, 2021, at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home on 33 Cottage Street. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Framingham Heart Study at 73 Mt Wayte Ave, Framingham, MA, where Darleen was a long-time participant. 

The family would like to thank Landmark Medical Center for their above and beyond efforts in an attempt to prevent this unexpected tragedy. The team of doctors and nurses by Darleen’s side were exceptional.
