Franklin recently acquired a Tesla Supercharger site, the company’s effort to make it easier for Tesla owners to go where they want without being concerned about running out of power.
According to the company, “Superchargers deliver energy rapidly, and gradually slow down as the battery fills. Your vehicle automatically alerts you when it has enough energy to continue the trip and with the extensive network of Superchargers along popular routes, charging above 80% isn’t typically necessary.”
The Franklin facility, originally permitted electrically during the summer, is located across the fence from the busy Mobil station near exit 43 (formerly 17), and accessible through the Franklin Village Mall.
According to a company web site, the Franklin site features 12 Superchargers, available 24/7, with a total electrical capacity of up to 250kW.
As far as amenities to take advantage of while stopped, the site lists five restaurants, Chipotle, LongHorn Steakhouse, Pokemoto, Pepper Terrace Thai Cuisine, and Panera. Oddly, Panera is listed separately as the only place to find restrooms and wifi.
The Supercharger site currently only serves the needs of Tesla owners, not other electric vehicles.
