Thursday Evening, March 15, Chief Lynch and the Town Council recognized recent Police Department promotions and a new hire to the department.
Officer Derek Mackey: Officer Mackey joined the FPD in December 2021. Officer Mackey previously worked for the Blackstone Police Department and the Pittsfield Police Department. Officer Mackey served 6 years in the United States Marine Corps and he is currently assigned to patrol. Officer Mackey has an associates degree from Mass Bay and he is continuing his education at SNHU.
Detective Laura Canavan: Detective Canavan was promoted from patrol to the rank of Detective. Detective Canavan joined the FPD in 2019 coming as a transfer from the Sharon Police Department. She has extensive experience working sexual assault, identify theft, and fraud cases. Detective Canavan has a bachelors degree from SNHU.
Sergeant Connor Crosman: Sgt Crosman was promoted from patrol to the rank of Sgt. Sgt. Crosman joined the FPD in 2018 after transferring from the Hopkinton Police Department. He has a masters degree from Anna Maria College and is currently assigned to the patrol division.
Autism Awareness

The FPD Sergeants Union is selling FPD Autism Awareness patches at the station for $10 each. All patch proceeds are being donated to charity at a later date. We also have a limited number of autism awareness seatbelt covers available at the station free of charge. Get them while they last!
