Synchronized skating got its start as an organized sport back in the 1950s when it was first called "precision skating." Its focus is on skaters working together to maintain precise formations and timing of movements. As a sport it has grown significantly and there are more than 600 synchro teams in the United States alone.

Here in Franklin, the Franklin Finesse Team with FMC Pirelli Veteran’s Skating Arena (also known as the Electric Blades in competition) competed over the weekend in an Ice Sports Industry (ISI) sanctioned Synchronized Championship event held at the Valley Sports Arena in Concord, Massachusetts.

They competed in the Youth Advanced Formation division under the leadership of Coach Cara Murphy. Team members include Julie Campbell, Natalia Carbonell, Charlotte Davidge, Mila Edouarzin, Medina Fenore, Sarah McIsaac, Kylie Prokopy, Zoe Rodrigues, Emma Sherlock, Daniella Stachow, Brooke Trahan, Melayna Videira, and Natalie Zhang

The team placed 5th against the Winterettes Gold with the Winterland Skating School, Natick Supernovas with FMC William Chase Arena, Artic Snowflakes Rock N’Roll with Lou & Gib Reese Ice Arena, and the South Shore Starlettes with FMC Raynham Iceplex.
