Beaver St. Interceptor Update

Monday (10/7) -
Tuesday (10/8): There will be a construction crew working in the area
of West Central St and Forge Pkwy at the entrance to BJ's between the
hours of 7am-4pm. Please follow detour signs.

Tuesday (10/8) -
Friday (10/11): There will also be a construction crew working on
Grove Street from Rt. 140 south towards the MBTA train tracks between
the hours of 7am - 4pm. Grove Street will be open and reduced to a
single lane.

At the Franklin
Recreation Center, the construction of the new Beaver Street
Interceptor Pump Station will continue with concrete form placement
of the pump station foundation.


Franklin Ballots in – And Being Mailed Out

Ballots for the Presidential Election(11/5) have
arrived at the Town Clerk's Office and have all been packaged up and were in the
process of being mailed out last week. Precincts 3,5,6,8 and 9 were
mailed out first, Precincts 1,2,4 and 7 followed
by the end of the week.

AYF Junior Athletic Games in Franklin

Armenian
Youth Federation (AYF) Camp Haiastan served as the backdrop for the
annual Junior Athletic Games (JAG) held from Sept. 13-15, hosted by
the Greater Boston “Nejdeh” Chapter. 130 AYF Juniors from the
East Coast competed in swimming and track and field events. By the
end, the New Jersey “Arsen” Chapter emerged as the overall
winner, and Albany "Shoushi" received the Chapter
Sportsmanship Award.

Norfolk Escapee
Recaptured

An
individual who escaped from a Norfolk prison last week was recaptured
hours later in a nearby community without incident, according to news
reports.


CVS
Cutting Jobs

CVS,
headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, and a major area employer, announced
last week that it was cutting another 2900 jobs. No specifics so far
but reportedly, not “front-line” jobs at its stores.

Fire at
Franklin Public Housing

Around
8:30 pm last Monday a fire was reported, according to New England
Fire News, at 35 West Park Street, a duplex. Shortly after 9 pm the
fire was reported under control. Reportedly, the two families in the
building have been displaced for an undetermined time period

32nd
Annual Pasta Supper

The
Rotary Club of Franklin MA has rescheduled our 32nd Annual Pasta
Supper to take place on October 10, 2024, at 5 p.m., at 1000 Central
Park Terrace, Franklin MA. “Back in June, Rotary had to make the
tough decision to postpone this event, due to the intense heat that
we were experiencing”, said President Joseph “Joe” Collins.

All
senior citizens and residents of the Franklin Housing Authority are
welcome to this free event. President and head chef Joe Collins
will lead fellow Rotarians in preparing the meal of homemade tomato
sauce and over 300 hand rolled meatballs. Surprises include some very
special guests.

Free
Hands Only CPR Class

The
Town of Franklin health Department & Fire Department Present:
HANDS-ONLY CPR - Wednesday, October 23rd, 4pm - 5:30pm at the
Franklin Senior Center, 10 Daniel McCahill St., Franklin, MA.

This
class teaches participants how to recognize cardiac arrest and to
effectively perform hands-only CPR in order to save a life.
This class is for educational purposes only and participants will not
receive a CPR certification. Approximately 1 hour long FREE
instructional class (including hand-on practice).

Turnaround Considered on Spring Street

In
accordance with the Town of Franklin Zoning By-Laws, the Franklin
Planning Board will hold a public hearing at the Town Hall (and can
also be attended remotely) on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 7:00 PM in
the Town Council Chambers of the Franklin Municipal Building, 355
East Central Street, for a Scenic Road application for a proposed
turnaround at the end of Spring Street, prepared by Lewis Street
Realty, LLC, Franklin MA. The proposed permit is to remove 4 trees in
front of Lots 2 and 2.1 Assessors Map 310, located on Spring Street,
to construct the proposed turnaround. Please note: This will be your
only written notice of this public hearing. Should the Planning Board
vote to continue this Public Hearing, the date and time will be
posted on the Planning Board’s website under Agendas. Please
contact the Department of Planning & Community Development at
(508) 520-4907 if you require further information or if you need to
make arrangements to provide translation services for the hearing
impaired, or for persons with language barriers. Copies of the plan
and supporting documentation may be reviewed in the Department of
