John B. Haggerty, 76, died on Thursday, June 30th, comfortably at home, following a long illness.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Alexis R. (Belliveau) Haggerty; two daughters, Katharine Richardson of Nashville, TN and Keren Brophy of Port Charlotte, FL; his brother, Brian F. Haggerty; a nephew, Ian Haggerty and a niece, Eliza Haggerty; four grandchildren, Ethan and Nigel Richardson and Connor and Kellyn Brophy.
He was born in Southbridge the son of the late Bernard F. and Theresa (Larochelle) Haggerty. John worked for over 30 years as an Insurance Executive for John Hancock Life Insurance Company. He was an avid sports fan and a season ticket holder of the Celtics for 37 years and the Patriots for over two decades. He celebrated a love of sports which he passed down to his daughters. He loved playing darts, attending games, and took the art of tailgating to the next level. He rejoiced in his Celtic heritage and his Catholic faith.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Thursday, July 7th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton Street, Southbridge, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church of St. John Paul II Parish, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will be in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge. A Calling hour in the funeral home will be held on Thursday, July 7th from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
