Above, homeowner Joe Bauer makes his pitch for a deck variance.
The Zoning Board of Appeals met via Zoom Thurssday evening at 7 pm with only one agenda item, other than reviewing and approving minutes. Joe Bauer, a homeowner on George Road was "seeking to construct a 12’ x 16’ deck that is 15.6’ from the rear setback where 30’ is required."
Chair, Bruce Hunchard, asked Bauer to explain what he was seeking and why it should be approved. After reviewing dimensions and setback requirements, Bauer noted that putting the deck on the back of the house doesn't change the neighborhood in any way.
"You know, we can't see it from the road. You know, we can't really see neighbors -- we have trees and really... it shouldn't affect many of our neighbors at all." he said. In addition, he pointed out that the structure would be in line with similar features on other homes in the neighborhood.
After clarifying that the deck is not covered and asking a few other questions, the chair and the board voted to close the hearing and then voted unanimously in favor of approving the variance. The meeting closed after about 10 minutes.
