Corrections, Amplifications on 40B Letter to the Editor

A few days ago, Franklin Observer posted a letter by Franklin resident George Bailey, one of a number of submissions recently to take issue with a large 40B project awaiting approval on East Central Street in Franklin.

We have since been informed by another individual that the letter included some information that was incomplete or mistaken.

1) Although the project is slated for land currently occupied by Stobbart’s nursery, a business with many decades of history in Franklin, it is not a project initiated by Stobbart’s (the business) or by the Stobbart family, though the latter has sold the land, as they have every legal right to do.

2) We are informed that at no time did the Stobbart family inquire witih Town Manager Jamie Hellen, as the letter writer stated, regarding what they could build on their land. If any such conversation occurred it might have involved the company that is proposing the 40B apartment complex.

3) To reduce confusion and eliminate the personal attacks directed toward the Stobbart family and their business, it would be more appropriate and correct to simply refer to the controversial 40B project with reference to its address, 444 E Central Street. This will be the policy of Observer and we commend the same to others.
