Ty·ro·le·an/ˌtirəˈlēən,təˈrōlēən/

adjective

  1. relating to or characteristic of the Austrian state of Tyrol or its inhabitants."an old-fashioned Tyrolean hat"

noun

  1. a native or inhabitant of the Austrian state of Tyrol."he was a Tyrolean who trained in Italy"
  2. We might add that for children of a certain era, Tyrolean was the preferred type of "sensible" shoe, summer or winter.

And just why is the Black  Box hosting a Tyrolean festival? Well, that would refer to the adjectival definition, 'relating to or characteristic of the Austrian state of Tyrol or its inhabitants,' presumably because the Sound of Music, an upcoming FPAC production at the Black Box, is often associated with that region.

In fact, if online sources are to be believed, the town in which the Von Trapps, around whom the Sound of Music Story is centered, actually lived in a town near Salzburg, which is adjacent to the Tyrol but not in it. But that would be picking a  nit.

Most important is the fact that this Oktoberfest-like event will include Austrian music and a selection of Austrian and Local beer, wine and food. And, it will include a preview of FPAC's The Sound of Music
