Rae A. Hall, 92, of Franklin formerly of Braintree, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2023 with family by his side.

Rae was born to George and Geneva Hall on June 19, 1931. He grew up in Arlington, MA, and upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served aboard three different aircraft carriers. Hard work was not foreign to Rae who worked for various companies and in various roles throughout his lifetime, including Raytheon Co. and the Christian Science Monitor. Rae found his passion as a newspaper pressman for the Boston Herald, retiring after thirty years of dedicated service.

Rae was an active member of House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Hingham, MA where he fervently offered his time and talents to volunteer in numerous capacities. In addition to his church involvement, Rae was a member of the Delta Masonic Lodge in Braintree, MA, as well as the American Legion Post 86.

As an avid outdoor enthusiast and lover of the sea, he embraced the freedom and tranquility of the great outdoors through time spent boating, hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Rae is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty-seven years, Gerda (Stuben) Hall. He will be deeply missed by his son, Steven Hall and his wife Joanne, of W. Bridgewater, and his daughter, Linda Simonds and her husband Andrew, of Uxbridge.

Above all, Rae’s proudest and happiest moments were spent with his six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nicholas, William, Katherine, Caroline, and Abigail. He was a wonderful Papa, and his legacy will live on in their hearts forever. Rae’s siblings, Priscilla Sprehe of Mesa, AZ and Wayne Hall, of Ocala FL, will greatly miss their dear brother. Rae was preceded in death by his brother M. Bradford Hall of Sun City Center, FL. Rae also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service honoring Rae’s life and legacy will be planned at a future date.
