Davis Thayer Open House IS Today

On Friday, the town held an Open House at Davis-Thayer School, one of two planned opportunities this month to view and walk through the school. The second event IS scheduled for Saturday, October 21 from 10am-2pm.  HOWEVER, a Fire Department Open House scheduled for today has been rescheduled to Saturday the 28th. The Friday event saw a steady stream of residents and town officials including at least one member of the Davis-Thayer Reuse Committee who admitted to never previously being inside the building.

Apparently, some cleaning was conducted prior to the tour, and given the number of calendars and posters dating to the final days of operations still on the walls, it seemed almost like school could resume any moment...though the lack of desks and chair might have made that impossible.

Please note that there is no elevator in the school and upper level access is only available via the stairs.
