On Thursday, February 22nd, there was a “Fallen Hero Remembrance” ceremony at 9:00 a.m. for James P. Murray (World War I) at his memorial monument on the Veteran’s Walkway at the Town Common. This follows a ceremony for Alan W. Willard, who lost his life during the Vietnam War period. Each ceremony includes a short speech about the individual's life, followed by a bugler playing Taps. In addition, a wreath is be placed at his monument that remains there for the entire day. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Future ceremonies will be held for each Franklin Fallen Hero at their respective monuments on the day that they died.
On Saturday, David Laughlan III, a World War II casualty, will be honored at 9 am.

Then on Monday, the 26th, the honoree is Richard L. Desper, who died during the Vietnam War.
