Meals on Wheels Needs Drivers

Meals on Wheels still desperately needs drivers, according to Jeanne Lunny, Site Coordinator, Meals on Wheels, Franklin Office

"Meals on Wheels services are in such demand these days. With the increased costs of food/groceries our numbers are climbing. In the Franklin office alone we are up over 25% from this time last year and the numbers continue to explode. It's scary," said Lunny.

People are suffering from real food insecurity and we are in dire need of drivers to get our meals out, Lunny explained.  Meals on Wheels is  looking for volunteers, (must be over 21 y/o), who can dedicate themselves to giving about 2 hours, one day each week, to deliver healthy meals to  homebound seniors.

Volunteers are reimbursed at $0.56 per mile and a small stipend is paid as well. MOW provides healthy meals to  homebound seniors in Franklin, Medway, Bellingham & Blackstone.

"Without our kindhearted drivers, we cannot complete this mission," said Lunny.

If you have a couple of hours and would like to chip in and help out, please call Jeanne, Mon - Fri from 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at 508.520.1422 for information.

Substitute/On Call drivers are also needed.
