Richard Paul Costello, known fondly to his family and friends as Dick, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Eileen Costello for 53 years.

Born on August 21, 1946, in Milford, MA, Richard was the son of the late Michael E. and Mabel (Hodges) Costello.

Raised and educated in Franklin, MA, Richard moved to Attleboro, MA in 1978, where he resided until his passing. Richard was a reliable and supportive presence in the lives of those around him, and his life was characterized by an unwavering dedication to his family, his work, and his hobbies.

Richard was a dedicated employee, spending 24 years working at the Foxboro Company before moving on to work at Howard Sweet and Stern-Leach until his retirement in 2009. He was also a proud veteran, honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1971.

As a man of service both in his employment and his leisure time, Richard was a member of the softball and bowling teams at the Foxboro Company as well as a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro. In his retirement, Richard enjoyed going out to breakfast, watching old movies, going to the casino, and spending time with his wife, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and beloved dog, Milo. Richard was also an avid Bruins and Patriots fan, even holding season tickets for the Patriots for many years.

A humble man with a clever sense of humor, Richard was an integral part of his family. His loved ones will miss the witty and sarcastic responses they knew would come from teasing him, a pastime they all enjoyed. Richard lived his life fully, embracing every moment with his loved ones and enjoying his hobbies.

In addition to his wife, Eileen, Richard is survived by his daughter, Michelle, and her husband, David Forte, of Attleboro, his grandchildren, Jordyn and Nicholas Forte, of Attleboro; his sister, Patricia Ober, of Upton, MA, his sister-in-law, Elaine Costello, of Franklin, MA, and many nieces and nephews.
