Crimmins went on to serve as First Justice of the Stoughton District Court from 2001 to 2010. While a Judge, he also served as an Associate Justice of the Appellate Division of the District Court Department of the Massachusetts Trial Court. More recently, in 2022, Governor Charlie Baker appointed Crimmins as Chairman of the Massachusetts State Ballot Law Commission, where he served until 2024.

A lifelong resident of Stoughton, Crimmins and his wife, Joanne, have raised their four children—Melissa, Thomas, William, and Sean—in the community they love.
According to his campaign, Crimmins' legal career, spanning over 40 years, positions him uniquely to ensure that only the most knowledgeable and capable Judges are appointed to the Bench. His tenure as First Justice of the Stoughton Division of the District Court and his role in various administrative capacities highlight his leadership and commitment to justice.
