Let Me Tell You About My Client...

Last week, Attorney Joseph Krowski appeared before Judge James Budreau at the Norfolk Superior Court on behalf of his absent client, Brendon Owen, who is facing murder and other charges in connection with the Dec. 2022 death of his ex-wife, an assault on his former mother-in-law, and the burning of his former home. Krowski is Owen's fourth attorney. He is currently trying to get Boston Medical Center to conduct a "pre-mortem" CTE examination to verify what Kroski said is a serious injurty to his client's brain.  Another hearing has been scheduled for a future date.

Half a Loaf, is Better Than...

Neighbors from Sunken Meadow Road and vicinity (off of Pine Street in Franklin) came out of Monday's Franklin Planning Board meeting with much less than they had hoped in connection with a Bellingham 40B project that Franklin has allowed to connect to the formerly dead-end street. The project and connection is moving forward but there appears to be agreement that the developer will install speed bumps at the town line, street lighting, and sidewalks on the Franklin side of the line.

Franklin Police Department conduct annual awards ceremony

(From FPD Facebook) As officers, accepting awards is never easy. Many of the calls we respond to are during the worst moments of someone’s life. We do not do this job for recognition; most of us simply feel like we are doing the job we took an oath to do.
What is important, however, is recognizing the families who stand beside us through the hard days, sad days, quiet days, and the “I don’t want to talk about it” days. Our families carry this job with us, often without ever seeing firsthand why those days happen. Ceremonies like today give them the opportunity to understand why so many call these officers heroes, even when they don’t see themselves that way.
It was our honor to recognize the following members today:
Life Saving Award:
Officer David Gove and Officer Joseph Burchill
Honorable Service Award:
Sergeant John Godino
Leadership Award:
Lieutenant Michael Colecchi
Exceptional Duty Award:
Officers Eric Cusson, Nicholas Storelli, David Ricci, Robert Burchill and Timothy Trubiano
Letters of Merit:
Sergeant Louis Marguerite and Kalman Koblick Detective Tara Lagoa
Officers Eric Cusson, Jovan Bielski, Andrew Viall, Nicholas Storelli, Robert Young, Derek Mackey, Conor Desmond, Kevin Quinn, Timothy Trubiano, Victoria McVicar, Robert Burchill, Jonathan Butler, Kevin Quinn, David Ricci, Jonathan Giron and Richard Martini
Clinician Kallie Montagano
Congratulations to all of today’s recipients, and thank you to every member of the Franklin Police Department and their families for your sacrifice, professionalism, and dedication to this community every single day.

Bomb Threat Thursday in Medway

The Medway Police Department is investigating a bomb hoax that was called into Medway High School Thursday afternoon after the close of the school day. According to their posted statement, the call was received at approximately 2:40 p.m. As a precaution, school administrators ordered the evacuation of the small number of students and personnel who remained on campus at the time. Upon arrival, Medway Police officers conducted sweeps of the school to ensure a complete evacuation and secured the perimeter of the campus. K9 units subsequently responded and performed both interior and exterior sweeps of the school. No suspicious items were located, and the investigation determined the threat to be a hoax. The campus was later reopened for use. The nature of the call was consistent with similar hoax threats that have been reported in communities throughout the country. Medway Police Detectives are actively investigating the incident. Assisting in the response and ongoing investigation were Medway School administrators and custodial staff, the Medway Fire Department, Medway IT, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad, the Framingham Police Department, the Franklin Police Department, and the Commonwealth Fusion Center.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Medway Police Department.
