ICYMI (we did) Red Wing Diner Now in Franklin

Image

Last year, two different sources mentioned that the Red Wing diner, an iconic roadside attraction on Route 1 in Walpole, was either expanding or moving to Franklin. Calls were made. Calls were not returned. And that was that. Until a few weeks ago when multiple news sources reported that it was all, more or less true.

The Red Wing, located just inbound from I-495 on Route 1, has always been an unpretentious place but with a loyal following, especially for its seafood.

Last year, according to reports elsewhere, long-time general manager Lisa Truax bought Franklin’s King Street Cafe and, shortly thereafter, discovered that the owners of Red Wing were planning to close and sell the business.

So, especially since King Street was largely focused on the Breakfast and Lunch market, Truax decided it would make sense to revive the Red Wing name and menu in an evening incarnation at the same location.

It is now a reality. We promise to visit soon and see if the food is as good as they say.

One more thing. The original Red Wing served pizza. The King Street version does not. But there are plenty of options for that staple in 02038!
