Franklin Rehab Facility Placed in Receivership

Cedarwood
Gardens, at 130 Chestnut Street, serves Norfolk County from
Franklin with 82 beds dedicated to both rehab and long-term care.

According to
news reports, employees at Cedarwood and four other Massachusetts
nursing homes, have not been paid since mid-September when the
operator’s request for immediate funding from the Commonwealth was
denied. Friday, the Suffolk Superior Court entered an order for
appointment of a receiver, namely, Mamary, Inc. (the “Manager”)
to manage the day-to-day operations of the five facilities during the
receivership. Mamary, Inc successfully operates other long-term care
facilities across New England, operating as the Royal Health Group at
www.royalhealthgroup.com.

The State’s
Department of Public Health, which oversees this type of facility,
had not responded to an inquiry as of 11 pm Monday. However, James
Mamary, Sr., President and Founder of Royal Health, stated, "It
is very early on in the process, but we are happy to have worked with
all involved to resolve the payroll issues. All of the employees will
be made whole and there should be no further payroll issues.”

“The residents of Cedarwood Gardens will have
no disruptions to their care,” stated Mamary. “We are working
collaboratively with the Department of Public Health to ensure a
smooth transition. Peter Murfitt, the executive director, has
significant experience, and we're excited that he will continue in
that role. Royal Health is a family-owned, Massachusetts based
operator. We will work to ensure that Cedarwood Gardens
continues to provide quality long term care services to the Franklin
community for years to come."
