David W Baker (PapaB), 77, of Franklin, passed away from natural causes in a peaceful state on Sunday, December 8th, at Milford Regional with family by his side. David was born in Stoughton, MA, on June 27th, 1947. He grew up in West Bridgewater, where he graduated from high school and was a baseball star. He was the son of the late Elwyn and Celia Baker. He married his late wife, Catherine Baker, in 1968. He was the brother of the late John Baker and sister Shirley Baker, and brothers Gary and Walter Baker of Middleboro.

David is survived by his sons, David Baker Jr., his late wife Tina Baker of Franklin, and their two sons, Marcus Baker and Zackary Baker; and Daniel Baker and his wife Brenda Baker of North Attleboro, along with their son Joshua and daughter Lilliana.

David was a former union carpenter and later went on to own and operate his own business, Baker Construction. He was known for his hard work, never taking a day off. He loved going fishing and spending Sundays with his sons on the water, searching for that elusive monster. His best friends, Clyde Perry and the late Billy Miller, along with his uncle Richard (Skinny), hunted down the elusive Brook trout all over the state, fishing every little spot they could. He was also a passionate Red Sox fan and enjoyed music and playing pool whenever he could.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Saturday, December 14th, from 1-3 pm at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made towards future Masses in David’s honor.
