Doris Louise (Temple) Nelson, 91, of Medway died peacefully April 13 at her home with her family at her bedside. She was the wife of the late Carl O. Nelson who died in 2022.
Born in Everett, April 14,1933, the daughter of the late Clarence B. and Florence (Veinot) Temple, Doris was raised in Everett until the age of 11, at which time her family moved to Lisbon, New Hampshire. She met her husband soon after moving to Plaistow, New Hampshire, where they lived for many years before retiring to Florida. Upon return to New England, they lived in New Durham, Durham and Hampton N.H. before moving to Medway Ma 6 years ago.
Doris was a graduate of Haverhill High School and worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Nevin’s Nursing Home in Methuen Ma for many years. She loved her residents and enjoyed training new nurse’s aides to give the best care possible.
Doris’s greatest joy was her family and friends. She loved to organize get-togethers for which she would cook and bake. She made friends wherever she was and considered everyone she met including her doctors as family or friends. At Exeter Hospital she was fondly referred to as the “coffee cake lady” because she never visited there without bringing two or three of her famous coffee cakes for the staff. She continued the tradition when she moved to Medway.
She is survived by her children, Carla Tucker and her husband Bob of Medway and Glenn Nelson and his wife Joyce of Spencer.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Tucker and his wife Lisa, Justin Tucker and his wife Jess, Jordan Tucker and his girlfriend Alexa, Shane Nelson and his wife Giana, Hilary Nelson and her partner Jose Nieves, Erica Adix and her husband Michael and Elias Nelson and his partner Alex Hodge .
She is also survived by her ten great-grandchildren, Madison, Wyatt, Sebastian, Destry, Teagan, Benson, James, Giorgi, Poppi and Alexia.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Plaistow Cemetery in Plaistow, New Hampshire.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
