MEDWAY: James Stanley Gray, Jr.

James S. Gray, Jr. 83, of Greenville, Maine formerly of Medway died December 19 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Worcester following a brief illness. He was the husband of Susan M. (Bates) Gray for the past 34 years.

Born in Sutton, Massachusetts, October 16,1942, the son of the late James S. and Blanche (Bessette) Gray, Mr. Gray was raised in Manchaug and had lived in Medway for many years before moving to Greenville 15 years ago.

James founded and operated Gray Excavation Company for many years.

He always enjoyed the outdoors and being by the lake -snowmobiling and boating. And, he spoke often of his younger days and playing competitive softball but he enjoyed nothing more than operating his large machinery.

In adding to his wife, he is survived by his children, Julie Overstreet and her husband Mark of Medway, Brian Choate and his wife Blanca of Medway, Melissa Rezek and her husband Anmar of Mendon and Tracey McLellan of Spencer.

He is also survived by his sister Carol Gray of Uxbridge and was the brother of the late Gary and Russell Gray.

James is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 27 in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Millis at 12:30 P.M.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.

Calling hours will be on Friday, December 26 from 5-7 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
