George E. Dorr Jr., 92, of North Port FL, passed away on Saturday, December 13th with his wife, Ruth (Ware) by his side.

George was born on April 17th, 1933, in Franklin Massachusetts, a son of the late George E. Dorr Sr., and Lucie (Mourey) Dorr. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War, stationed in Germany.

He was a devoted father, husband and friend. He loved socializing, being outdoors, playing golf, and in earlier years skiing, biking, jogging and playing tennis. He lived in Cape Cod for many years after he retired from Bay State Gas in Taunton (now Eversource Energy). It was a natural progression for him to eventually become a snowbird, wintering in Florida for many years, and finally moving there full-time with Ruth.

George loved to lend a hand with neighbors in his community, he loved to fix things and figure things out, and he was good at it. While he lived in Franklin, he was a volunteer fireman and an EMS worker. He proudly drove the hook and ladder, Engine #1.

He was an inspiration to many with his strong work ethic, friendly disposition, love of family, and his beloved dog Sammy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Irene C. Cook, and brother Robert C. Dorr Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ruth (Ware) Dorr, sister Jean L McCarthy of Blackstone MA, his four daughters, Debra (Dorr) Carmody and her husband Michael Carmody Sr., Julianne (Dorr) Bonvino, Cheri Dorr, Wendy Dorr and her husband Adam Beckman; his four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Carmody Landro (Jason), Michael Carmody Jr. (Samantha), Lucy Beckman, Elliot Beckman; and his three great-grandchildren, Emerson Landro, Lucas George Landro, and Connor Carmody: and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private service and interment is planned at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
