FRANKLIN: Barbara Ann Deely

Barbara Ann Deely (Flynn, Cregg) died peacefully January 9th 2026 in Wrentham at the age of 89 after a long illness. The daughter of Owen Flynn and Barbara Clougherty Flynn, she was raised in South Boston and attended St. Augustines school. She remained life long friends with a large group of her St Augustine classmates. As a young adult, she resided in Hyde Park and Roslindale before moving her family to Franklin where she lived for 52 years. She was a resident of the Pond Home in Wrentham at the time of her death.

Attending Holliston junior college in the mid 1970s she completed a respiratory therapy certification program. She worked as a staff respiratory therapist at Framingham Union Hospital and Norwood Hospital staying in close contact with many of her colleagues long after retirement.

During the early seventies she was a member of the Franklin Rangerettes board of directors. She volunteered as a reading literacy coach at the Franklin Public library. In retirement, she served as a member of the Franklin Council On Aging for many years until her move to Wrentham.

A passionate reader, she was a familiar face at all the local libraries and would always have a historical fiction book recommendation for you. She loved gardening and flowers of all kinds. She and her husband Alfred Deely enjoyed many travel adventures during their 23 years together before his death in 2006. Her favorite trips involved traveling to visit her children or grandchildren’s homes across the country.

She is survived by her children; Michelle Royce of Colorado Springs CO, Ann Marie Fallon of Parrish FL, Donna and Stephen Williams of Wrentham, Barbara and Albert Dellorco, John Cregg and Kristen Rampino, Richard and Sabrina Cregg all of Franklin. She leaves a legacy of 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren all of whom she was extremely proud of and enjoyed immensely.

She is also survived by her sisters; Margaret Mullin and Eileen O’ Sullivan of Dorchester, Maureen Brown of Canton and her brothers; Robert Flynn of Hingham and Thomas Flynn of Quincy.

She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Deely, brother Paul Flynn and sister Patricia Flynn.

Visitation services will be held at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home at 33 Cottage Street, on Tuesday January 13, 2026 4-7pm.

Her funeral Mass will follow on Wednesday January 14, 2026 at 10am St Marys, Church Square Franklin MA.
