Janet "Jan" Edith White, 87, of Wilder, VT passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2026, after a brief illness.

Jan was born on June 30th, 1938, at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH to Stanley and Alice Farnham of Fairlee, VT. She was the youngest of 3 children and grew up with brothers Keith and Bruce. Jan took to the piano at an early age and often played at the Fairlee Community Church. She attended Bradford Academy, Bradford, VT, and graduated from High School in 1956.

On October 14th, 1956, Jan married Gordon White, a Senior Airman in The United States Air Force. Together, they raised 4 boys: Michael, Alan, Randy, and David. The White family travelled and lived in many places such as South Carolina, Michigan, Cape Cod, New York, Okinawa Japan - where she was a den mother for the Cub Scouts - Hanscom Field in Bedford, Massachusetts, and upon Gordon's retirement from the Airforce in 1971, Franklin, Massachusetts.

As her boys grew older, Jan began her second career. She worked as an Administrative and Executive Assistant for Corning Glassware, Digital Equipment Corporation, Fidelity Investments, and finally, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, from which she retired. She purchased her 'forever home' in Wilder Vermont in 2000.

Jan owned and loved 'The Camp,' a cottage on Lake Morey in Fairlee, Vermont. The Camp was a part of her life ever since she was a young girl. She spent endless summers there, enjoying the lake and socializing with friends and family. She and her Sister-in-Law Sonie have a few stories to tell! She also loved to travel and, after retirement, spent several years as a 'snowbird' in sunny Dunedin, Florida. She was very sociable and made new friends wherever she went. She was also a champion advocate for her son Michael - born with intellectual disabilities - for whom she cared for with a tenacity and love that was awe inspiring.

Jan is survived by her sons Randy and David, daughter's in-law Kim, Jen, and Julia, grandchildren Zachary, Cassandra, Brenna, Bryan, Ashley, and Brandon, great grandchildren Olivia and Hailey, sister's in-law Barbara and Sonie, and many nieces and nephews.

Jan was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Alice, her ex-husband Gordon, her sons Michael and Alan, her brothers Keith and Bruce, her brother's in-law Milt and John, and her sister's in-law Lorraine and Joyce. She is also predeceased by her beloved dog, Ringo.

A memorial service will be held in Fairlee, VT at The Fairlee Community Church, on Saturday, February 7th at 1pm.

A summertime burial service will be held at the Post Mills Cemetery, Post Mills VT, on Saturday, June 20th at 11am.
