At just 34-years-old, Franklin resident Calvin Graves has already lived an interesting life.
Born and raised in Boston, a graduate of the performing arts high school Boston Arts Academy and later of Franklin Pierce University, Graves was drafted to play professional baseball with the Chicago Cubs, where heplayed for two years. He would go on to play in Japan, Guatemala, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Canada, finishing his last three years as an individual baseball player for the Alpine Cowboys.
Now a Cyber Security Threat Analyst for TJX, Graves might have expected the quiet life as he settled into the town of Franklin after living for a bit in Bellingham, but a phone call would bring him overseas yet again, to Sardinia, Italy, to take a chance at rekindling a lost love, in front of the entire world.
Graves joined a Hallmark Plus television reality series, “Second Chance Love,” in which he and his ex, Autumn Kilpatrick, of Alpine, TX, joined five couples hoping to rekindle lost love in a European island paradise.
“I had met her during one of my baseball seasons,” says Graves, but when his season ended, and she was still in college, the two had parted. “It was something good at the wrong time,” says Graves. The show, he says, offered them another shot at a different point in their lives, six years later.
The three weeks of filming “was awesome,” says the former outfielder, adding, “They did a great job producing and directing, nothing scripted, honestly.”
Graves admits that, with his performing arts background, he was more comfortable in front of cameras 12 hours a day than Kilpatrick, but three weeks in a beautiful villa with “amazing food” including “gelado that changed my whole perspective on ice cream,” says Graves, certainly helped ease any discomfort.
Although the show, which aired Thursday evenings, wrapped up in January, you can still satisfy your romantic curiosity, catching the series at https://www.hallmarkplus.com/details/TV_SHOW/collection/FFLA/second-cha….
