Rock solid love and support for family and friends defined Judith Piela Yasi. After a long fight with lung disease, surrounded by her family, she passed into God’s loving hands-on May 5, 2026 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Judy instilled in all of us, the importance of participating in and building community. She served a term on the Town of Medway Finance Committee, spent many years in leadership roles on the Medway Home & School Association, taught CCD, and was active in the Catholic Daughters.

Judy built many long-lasting friendships over the years. The bonds between her close friends were strong, like family. Her warmth and smile drew people in, and she had a remarkable ability to make friends everywhere she went.

Judy was born in Chelsea, MA on June 6, 1959, the daughter of the late John and Elaine (Nowiszewski) Piela. She grew up in Preston, CT, and went to college in Boston at Northeastern University earning a degree in electrical engineering. Judy was a resident of Medway, MA since 1988.

It was in her early career as an electrical engineer where Judy found the love of her life. She met Dan Yasi when they both worked at Yankee Atomic in Framingham and together, they built a beautiful 38-year marriage full of adventure and love. They shared a passion for travel, cherishing trips together to Italy, Australia, Paris, and the British Virgin Islands.

Judy was a co-owner of her family business, Piela Electric, with her brother Jay and cousin Joe. The business was founded by her grandfather Joseph Piela, and handed down from generation to generation. Judy wore many hats in the family business, running accounting, IT, and HR.

Judy had a gift for bringing people together. Her home was always open and her gatherings were memorable and fun. She regularly hosted 20+ guests at Thanksgiving and threw elaborately themed graduation parties nailing every detail, from signature cocktails to guest favors, to perfection.

Judy also loved creative hobbies - she enjoyed rug hooking, cross stitch, and knitting. Most recently working on hats for friends and blankets for grandkids.

Animals held a special place in Judy’s heart. Over the years the Yasi home was filled with both dogs and cats, each one a treasured member of the family. She adored her fur grandchildren and loved when they would come to visit.

She is survived by her husband Dan Yasi of Medway, MA; daughter Katherine Yasi of Chicago; daughter Emily Yasi of Framingham, MA and her wife Jessica; daughter Lauren of Richmond, VA, her fiancé Javon, and son Enzo; and step son Paul Yasi of Hampden, MA, his wife Jennifer and daughter Madeline.

She is also survived by her brother John J. Piela, Jr. of Preston, Ct.
Judy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and embraced the name Bubbi - a tribute to her own beloved grandmother. She loved her family, her friends, and her animals - and she was deeply loved in return.
