Cynthia Louise Wentworth, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026 in Bridgewater, New Jersey at the age of 85. Born on March 2, 1941, in Sherborn, Massachusetts, Cynthia was the oldest daughter of John Wentworth and Edna Harney Wentworth.

Cynthia was a devoted mother who adored her only child, Richard W. Holmes. She took great pride in sharing stories of their adventures and travels. She was intentional about exposing him to new experiences, instilling confidence, and encouraging him to greet everybody with a smile. Her love for her son and her family were the center of her world.

"Cyndi" attended Natick High School and moved to Franklin, MA in 1964. She spent 28 years on Forest Street with her beloved neighbors and friends. She worked several years as a solderer, most notably at Castronics in Mendon, MA, where some of the parts she worked on were used on Space Shuttle missions.

Cyndi's greatest gift was her devotion to children. She spent much of her life caring for others through her work in child care, where her kindness, patience, and nurturing spirit touched generations of lives.

She was also known for her love of music and faith, singing proudly in the choir at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin, Massachusetts. Cyndi loved acting, and gardening. A member of the Catholic Women’s Club, Cynthia found joy in fellowship, community, and service.

She had a vibrant personality and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Cyndi loved nature, spending time in New Hampshire and especially at the ocean. She loved vacationing in North Truro on Cape Cod, a place that brought her great happiness and peace. She also lived on the Mid-Cape for seven years in the 1990's.

Later in life, Cyndi accomplished her lifelong dream when she moved to Norfolk, VA and lived in a beach house on Chesapeake Bay. She continued to care for children, and could often be found on her deck overlooking the beach or in a beach chair with her toes in the sand. She lived in Norfolk for 19 years. She spent the last eight years of her life closer to her son and grandchildren in New Jersey.

Cynthia is survived by her loving son, Richard W. Holmes; her sister, Beverly J. Rohde; her grandson, Dylan Wentworth Holmes; and her granddaughter, Charlotte Rose Holmes. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.

Family, friends and neighbors will remember Cynthia for her warm heart, strong faith, caring nature, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her memory will be cherished always by those who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends may visit with Cynthia's family on Saturday, May 23rd at Martin Funeral Home, located at 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809 from 11:00 until 12:00 PM with words of remembrance starting at 12:00pm.
