Sandra K. "Sande" Lozzi
Sandra Kay (Buitta) Lozzi, 80, of Franklin died May 16, with family at her side, following a brief illness.
Born in Springfield IL, on August 25, 1945, the daughter of the late George Robert (Bob) Buitta Sr. and Idamae (Bowman) Buitta, Sandra was raised in Newton and Dedham MA before moving to Franklin. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1963. She was the widow of the late Robert Vincent Lozzi Sr. who passed away in 1973.
Sandra worked for nearly 30 years at the former Wrentham State School, now Wrentham Developmental Center. She was devoted to the care of the individuals she served, always supporting independence while providing compassionate care. She was well liked by the residents of WDC as well as the staff she worked alongside, gathering many friends along the way.
Sandra is survived by her son Robert Vincent (Chug) Lozzi Jr. of Franklin, her daughter Laurenda Lynne (Lonnie) Lozzi and her partner Dana Pisani also of Franklin. She was the grandmother of Sandra May (Sande) Salazar, whom she raised, of S. Grafton and her partner Greg Good. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Luke R. Lozzi of Falmouth, Kelan B. Riggs of Millis and her great grandchildren Michael V. Papp, Alexander Good, and Giselle Good, all of S. Grafton. Sandra was the oldest of five children. She is survived by her sisters, Sherrill (Buitta) Hope of Pinellas Park FL, Rose (Buitta) Boucher and her husband Butch of Bellingham, and her “sistahs”, Kathi Oliver and Pam Pickett. She was the mother of the late Lauri Anne Lozzi, who passed away in 2019 and the sister of the late George R. (Bob) Buitta II, of Lincoln, RI, and the late Richard A. Buitta of Medway. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Sandra, “Sande” to friends and family, was a people collector. She made friends everywhere she went. She welcomed all into her home, always ready with a cup of tea or coffee, ready to talk about anything and everything from politics and world events to gardening and home design and everything in between. She was calm, polite, thoughtful with her answers and opinions and ready to listen whenever one of her family or flock needed advice or just a kind ear. She was a true lady with a tremendous capacity for giving of herself to others. Sande loved every flower she ever met. She created amazing garden scapes that drew honeybees, dragonfly’s and hummingbirds to her porches. She enjoyed sitting amongst her blooms in the very early morning and at night in her famous moon gardens, thinking, talking and laughing on the phone with her sisters and her oldest and dearest friends. Sande loved her family. She loved spending time with her kids and grand kids, her extended family, and her own Mom, Idamae, who she was lucky to have in her life til she was 94. Sande was a true queen bee, with everyone she loved buzzing around her, drawn to her personality, her smile and her warmth. She will be missed by so many. Til we meet again on the other side Mum, Grammy, Sister, Auntie, Friend… We love you 🍀.
