Confused by Park St. Bridge Warning? We Were, Too.
In recent weeks an electronic display sign from MassDOT appeared at the intersection of Route 140 and King St. in Franklin advising"Park St. Bridge Closed." Since the bridge has been limited to one-way traffic for nearly a year (or is it longer?) we assumed this must mean it was fully closed -- and perhaps under repair? After a number of inquiries we got this response from John Goggin in MassDOT communications: This sign was installed as part of the Traffic Management Plan, which has been in place for over a year. While the bridge is open to Park Street northbound traffic, it remains closed to southbound traffic, which this message board is meant to convey.
