Carole L. Aroche - beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, artist, and friend - passed away on August 7, 2026, in Medway, Massachusetts, at the age of 87.
Born in Boston, Carole grew up in Brookline with her parents, Frances and Fred Lampke, her younger sister Rhona, and three older brothers (Herbert, Sidney and George). She was pre-deceased by her son Jerry of Chatham MA. who passed away last October. She is survived by Jerry's wife Carol, Son Steve, Wife Shirley of Harvard, MA and daughter Joanne of Oregon City, Oregon. She later welcomed four grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica, Justin and Micheal. She also had three great-grandchildren, Lillian, Madison and Claire whom she adored.
Carole was an artist to her core, drawn to beauty and color from an early age. In 1983, that calling led her across the country to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she opened a gallery and began the most vivid chapter of her life. There, her work found its true subject: animals, especially wolves, which she painted as guardians and protectors, along with birds and figures that seemed to glow from within. Her paintings had a spiritual quality, evoking oracles and shamans, and Santa Fe wasn't just where she lived; it became who she was.
Her signature Redwolf painting remains one of her most beloved and recognizable works, a piece so closely tied to her name that it has become part of her legacy. Her art can still be seen and felt at http://www.laroche-gallery.com - a lasting window into the world she created.
Carole was quietly shy, yet somehow always surrounded by people who loved her. She had a gift for drawing others close without ever seeking the spotlight, through her laughter and the warmth she offered so naturally. For Carole, art was never just a profession. It was the language she used to express everything words couldn't.
In her later years, Carole moved back to Medway, Massachusetts, to be closer to family, and especially her sister-in-law, Lucille. The two, along with a close friend, became known as the "Three Musketeers," spending many happy afternoons together poolside.
Carole built a life rich with family, friendship, creativity, and purpose, from her Brookline roots to the high desert of Santa Fe she came to call home. She leaves behind not only a body of work that will endure, but the memory of a woman who loved deeply and lived vividly.
She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she touched with her warmth, her laughter, and her art.
A memorial service celebrating Carole's life will be held Monday, August 10, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Schlossberg Family's Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street, Canton, Massachusetts.
Shiva will be held at the home of Lucille Lampke in Medway, MA immediately following the memorial service through 8PM.
