Beaver Street Interceptor (BSI) Project Update
Construction Updates ~ Monday, August 17 through Friday August 21
West Central Street (Near BJ's) Lane Closure Alert:
Starting Monday (8/17) through Friday (8/21) between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., the contractor will work on the elevated sewer along West Central Street. During this time there will be a lane closure on West Central Street between 99 Restaurant and BJ's. Traffic leaving BJ's and the Conlyn Avenue area will be detoured onto Forge Parkway to access Rt. 140. Please use caution when traveling in this area and follow all posted detour signs.
RT. 140 (West Central Street) Lane Closure Alert:
Starting Wednesday, 8/19, the contractor will repair the remaining sidewalk areas along Route 140. The work will be contained within the southbound lane from Burger King to Beaver Street. During this time, lane closures will occur as needed on this section of Route 140. Please use caution when traveling in this area and follow all posted signs.
Franklin Flu Clinic Scheduled
The Franklin Health Department will be hosting an upcoming FREE Flu Clinic on Tuesday, September 22, from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM at the Franklin Senior Center, 10 Daniel McCahill St.

Markey Pushes for Aid to North Korea
The same week that Ukraine said it was now being hit by missiles made in North Korea, Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), who is in a tough primary fight with Seth Moulton, reintroduced the Enhancing North Korea Humanitarian Assistance Act of 2026, according to a post from his office, which would expedite the efforts of non-governmental organizations to provide lifesaving medical care, sanitation systems, and other essential humanitarian needs to the people of North Korea. The legislation would modify sanctions implementation at the United States Department of Treasury, Department of State, Department of Commerce, and the United Nations’ North Korea sanctions committee to ensure that assistance can reach those in need. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) cosponsors the legislation.
P-Town Honors Governor Healey
The Provincetown Business Guild announced Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey as an Honorary Grand Marshal for its 48th annual Provincetown Carnival parade on Thursday, August 21st 2026. This year’s parade will be the largest in its 48 year history, featuring 48 floats and the first time a sitting Massachusetts Governor has been named an Honarary Grand Marshal. The 2026 "Deep
Sea Disco"-themed Parade will begin at 3pm and travel west down the
destination's famed Commercial Street.
