Above, image shows the fanfare accompanying the opening of Postal Center International (PCI) on Hayward Street in Franklin three years ago. Now, just three years later, the company has filed Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notices revealing the complete closure of operations and phased layoffs for 457 workers across facilities in Florida, Massachusetts, and Texas due to "unforeseeable business circumstances".
PCI is a print, mail, fulfillment, signs, and marketing solutions company. The Franklin location officially opened Thursday, May 11, and served as the company’s presort mail facility. It was the company’s second opening in less than 18 months.
In the past, PCI was named South Florida Business Journal’s Business of the Year Award Winner in the $250 million to $500 million revenue category. PCI also ranked #1 on the South Florida Business Journal’s “Top Commercial Printers” Book of Lists for the fourth consecutive year in 2022. That recognition came on the heels of two other preeminent SFBJ listings, including #19 on the 2022 Fastest Growing Companies List and #28 on the 2022 Top South Florida Private Companies.
The company submitted its Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) layoff and closure updates earlier this month and said 112 employees at Franklin would lose their jobs.
