Recognize that Lawyer in Girl from Plainville?

By now, almost everyone in the region, and millions elsewhere, know the story of Plainville teenager Michelle Carter who was put in trial in 2017 in a precedent-shattering case, for manslaughter in the death of her boyfriend Conrad Roy. The prosecutor contended that her texts, which explicitly encouraged Roy to kill himself, were just as damaging as a physical act could have been.

The story has been given the tinsel-town treatment in The Girl from Plainville, which premiered on Hulu on March 29, 2022 as a miniseries created by Liz Hannah and Patrick Macmanus. Elle Fanning plays the part of Carter and Colton Ryan that of Roy.

The series has reportedly received mostly positive reviews. Franklin based attorney Joseph P. Cataldo, who was part of Carter’s defense team, ends up being portrayed in the flim by the slightly younger Michael Mosley (born in 1978) who has previously portrayed Drew Suffin on Scrubs, Ted Vanderway on Pan Am, Johnny Farrell on Sirens, Everett Lynch on Criminal Minds, and Jerry Tyson on Castle.

According to his web site, Cataldo (an FHS graduate) is a partner at Cataldo Law Offices, LLC and heads the firm’s criminal practice, as well as certain areas of civil litigation. He has successfully defended clients in cases including murder, felonies, misdemeanors, sexual assaults, violent and non-violent crimes, domestic violence, white collar crimes and Operating Under the Influence charges.
