Protests Around Town On Saturday

Above, banners hung on Washington Street Saturday aimed to bring attention to continued medical mandates.

Saturday in Franklin saw a renewal of “stand outs” by individuals and at least one organized group. The Washington Street overpass saw a late-morning gathering by several individuals organized through the MassachusettsSaysNo.com coalition. According to the local organizer from Wrentham, who declined to provide her name, approximately 20 locations (mostly highway overpasses) across Massachusetts were the focus of the weekend demonstration, which featured large signs encouraging drivers to “honk” to show opposition to mandates.

She said organizers hope to bring attention to efforts to end mandates, which have cost many healthcare workers and first responders their jobs.

Also, another group gathered on Saturday near the Village Shopping Mall, reportedly upset about inflation and gas prices, among other things. Some of those present had anti-Biden signs, some of which were described by a passerby as “obscene.”
