Franklin High School Students Lead Team in Philanthropic Competition so Blood Cancer Patients can Live Longer Better Lives
March 27, 2026 – Blood Cancer United® (formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) New England Region has officially kicked off its iconic philanthropic competition for high school students, Student Visionaries of the Year. The seven-week leadership development program, during which students foster professional skills such as entrepreneurship, marketing, and project management, will help Blood Cancer United continue to conduct its mission to cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life of all patients and their families.
Student Visionaries of the Year has helped Blood Cancer United invest more than $2 billion in cutting-edge research worldwide, fueling nearly every critical advancement in blood cancer treatment that spans the most promising cancer research. For over 75 years, Blood Cancer United has been making immeasurable progress across each of its mission focus areas of research, patient support, and advocacy.
“These incredible volunteers are helping Blood Cancer United work towards achieving our bold goal: By 2040, Blood Cancer United will enable blood cancer patients across the country to gain more than one million years of life,” said Tara Rivard, Executive Director of Blood Cancer United’s New England Region. “This ambitious future is guided by Blood Cancer United’s commitment to cure blood cancer and support all those impacted by it — and is achievable with the continued dedication of everyone involved in Student Visionaries of The Year.”
