David Floyd Sims, of Franklin, MA, born October 25, 1942, passed away on August 6, 2022, at the age of 79. David was a proud Colquitt native and graduate of Miller County High School, Class of 1960. After leaving his beloved hometown, David went on to graduate from The University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, and remained a proud Bulldog his whole life. Post-graduation, David traveled, lived, and worked across the country with various companies during the emerging ages of technology and retired after over 30 devoted years at IBM as a Technology Solution Sales Executive.

David always found the time to spend doing what he loved the most: telling jokes, listening to music, playing trivia, cards, and other games, keeping up with current events – paired with lively discussions about them, and spending time with family, no matter how close or far apart they were sometimes.

David is survived by his three beloved children; son, Christopher David Sims, his two daughters, Jessica Leigh Schopper and Meredith Lauren Sims, as well as three grandchildren: Noah Michael Schopper, Aiden James Schopper and Kennedy Grace Tutungian; his sister, Patsy Sims Sharnikow; and niece, Julie Horton Hewitt, and many other cherished members of his extended family. He is preceded in death by his loving parents; James Paul Sims and Louise Floyd Sims.

Services celebrating the life of David Floyd Sims will be held October 1, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church, Colquitt, with burial to follow at Colquitt City Cemetery – all are welcome.
