Lillian M. (Horlander) Morrissey 89, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, Friday November 11, 2022 at Maples Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Wrentham, following an illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas L. Morrissey, who died in 1988.
Born December 6, 1932, in Louisville, Kentucky a daughter of the late Leo A. and Margaret C. (Stout) Horlander, she was a resident of Franklin for over 67 years.
Lillian worked as a licensed practical nurse for the former Wrentham State School and then The Foxboro Co. until her retirement. Following her retirement and wanting to remain active, she took a position in the Franklin Town’s Clerk’s office assisting with the senior tax program.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Franklin where she was a former member of the Catholic Women’s Club and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Friends of the Franklin Elders.
Lillian enjoyed singing and was a past president of the Massachusetts Cultural Council; she was also a competition ballroom dancer.
Lillian was devoted to her family and was always doting over her 13 grandchildren and 12 grandchildren. She treasured her friendships with everyone, especially those at the Franklin Senior Center.
She is survived by her children, Christine A. Mucciarone and her husband Mark of Franklin, Mary C. Olsson and her husband Christopher (Kai) of Franklin, Jean M. Sweeney and her husband John of Wrentham and Kevin J. Morrissey and his wife Patricia of Norton.
Lillian was the sister of the late Leo A. Horlander, Dorothy Steinmetz, Charles E. Horlander and Harold J. Horlander all of Louisville.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Saturday Nov. 19th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square Franklin at 10AM.
Calling hours are Friday from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
