The SAFE Coalition, which is based in Franklin, supports those affected by substance use disorder and mental health concerns across southeastern Massachusetts. The organization offered up an open house for friends, supporters, and others in the community Thursday evening at the organization’s current offices in the Moseley Mill’s complex off of Hayward Street.

Scores of people, probably hundreds over the course of the event, which ran from 3 to 8 pm, filled the sprawling facility under the watchful eyes of, among others affiliated with the organization, co-founders Jim Derick and Jennifer Kinght-Levine.

Also in attendance were several members of the Franklin Town Council, including Glenn Jones, Cobi Frongillo, and Ted Cormier-Leger, and State Rep. Jeff Roy.

The evening also included:

  • Live music by guitarist Jon Bonner
  • Warm conversation by those SAFE has supported
  • Display of programs provided to all SAFE’s community partners
  • Floral decor provided by Only Prettier Designs
  • Appetizers provided by the Eagle Brook Saloon
  • Hot and Iced coffee and tea provided by Starbucks
  • Photography my Paul Vicario

According to a SAFE Facebook post, the organization is a non-profit, founded in 2015 with a mission is to support teens and families impacted by substance use and mental health. SAFE works in partnership with over 8 school districts, police and fire departments, courts, and other service providers to increase access to care. And, they noted, “We are 100% donor and grant funded!”
