Late last year, the Town of Franklin advertised for “a dynamic, creative, and collaborative individual to join our team as the Director of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy.” The position was intended to help the town plan, develop, implement, and manages “a comprehensive arts and culture program strategy,” and serve as a liaison between the Town and the arts, cultural and creative community.

There were reportedly many applicants for the position but one got the nod, and came aboard officially less than two weeks ago: Corey Shea.

Shea lives in Medway and holds a BFA in Digital Imaging with a minor in Art History from UMass Amherst. More recently, she earned a Master’s Degree in Arts Administration from Boston University.

She has been serving as Director of the Maud Morgan Arts Center in Cambridge.

According to her LinkedIn post, she has held positions with the UMass Art Gallery and the Danforth Museum in Framingham, as well as the Nave Gallery in Somerville, and as Assistant Director of the Cambridge Art Association.

Shea says it is refreshing to be in the closer-to-home surrounds of Franklin and she is excited to be contributing to the arts and culture scene here in 02038.
