The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog is a 1927 British silent thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and including one of the first of his famous cameo appearances. It was Hitchcock's third feature film,  released on 14 February 1927 and based on the 1913 novel The Lodger by Marie Belloc Lowndes. It centers on the attempt to identify and capture a serial killer similar to Jack the Ripper. At its release, the trade journal Bioscope
wrote: "It is possible that this film is the finest British production ever made".

In the story, the killer targets young blonde women and the murders occur on Tuesday nights. What we don’t know is whether the “lodger” who has taken a room in the home of young, blonde model Daisy Bunting, is in fact the killer or, as he claims, someone trying to track down and stop the killer. As with all Hitchcock films, expect the unexpected and some great camera work.

The film will be shown at “Cinema 80” (the Franklin Historical Museum) 80 West Central St. at 6 pm Saturday. Admission is free and the film runs about 90 minutes.  Chris. Leverone, a videographer and graphics artist from Franklin, who has directed promotional and fundraising videos, and is currently a producer at Franklin TV, developed this program of films in cooperation with the Franklin Senior Center.
