John P. Maguire, 88, of Medway, peacefully passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Medway Country Manor. He was the beloved husband of Ethel M. (McGunigle) Maguire since 1959.
Born in Newton on January 31, 1936, the son of the late Joseph W. and Marie (Sullivan) Maguire, John was raised in Newton, graduated from Newton High School and was a resident of Medway for the past 63 years. He earned an associate degree in civil engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology.
John proudly served in the Army Reserves for six years.
Before his retirement, John worked as a civil engineer working for many different companies throughout his career.
John was a member of the Medway Planning Board for several years and was a lifelong member of the Natick Elks Club. He was also a member of the Medway Boosters Club, the former St. Jospeh’s Men’s Club and the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed travelling, doing construction projects around his home, and spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, John H. Maguire of Agawam and Timothy J. Maguire, his wife Donna and their daughter Kailey Ann Maguire all of Franklin, and his daughter Kerry Marie Maguire of Franklin.
He is also survived by his brother Henry Maguire of Royal Highlands, Florida, his sister Maureen Maguire of Newton and Royal Highlands, Florida and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Joseph William Maguire, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Monday, October 7 at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
