Medway Superintendent Dr. Armand Pires and Principal Dr. John Murray have announced that Medway High School senior Nora Keavany was selected to perform in the treble choir as part of the 2025 National Association for Music Education Eastern Division Honor Ensembles.
This prestigious ensemble is assembled only once every two years, bringing together student musicians from 11 Northeastern states and Washington D.C.
Nora is joining 127 other vocalists on the All-Eastern Treble Choir as part of The Eastern Division Honor Ensembles, which are assembled biannually during the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Eastern Division Conference and Honors Ensemble Festival.
The NAfME conference is a gathering of music educators for professional development. This year's conference is scheduled for April 24-27 at the Connecticut Convention Center in downtown Hartford.
The All-Eastern Treble Choir and other ensembles will be performing in rehearsal throughout the conference in preparation for the concert. The Treble Choir’s concert is set for 11 a.m., Apr 27, at The Bushnell Performing Arts Center.
In addition to the Treble Choir, the 2025 NAfME Eastern Division Honor Ensembles feature a diverse range of ensembles, including a 199-member mixed chorus, a 146-person concert band, a 19-player jazz band, a 14-person modern band, and a 104-musician orchestra.
The selection process for the Eastern Division Honor Ensembles involves nominations from state-level music associations. Students must first earn a place in their state’s district and all-state ensembles through auditions. From there, the highest-scoring performers are nominated and selected to represent their schools and states at the All-Eastern level, where they collaborate and perform with accomplished peers under the direction of renowned conductors.
“Nora Keavany’s selection is a reflection of her exceptional dedication, hard work, and achievements in music,” said Medway Public Schools Performing Arts Coordinator Amanda Webster. “She has been a dedicated member of the Medway High School music program, contributing to multiple ensembles and consistently demonstrating excellence in her work. Medway High School is thrilled to have Nora represent our community at such an esteemed event. Congratulations to Nora on this incredible accomplishment.”
In addition to her musical achievements, Nora is a well-rounded student involved in both the performing arts and athletics. In March, she will take on the lead role of Jack Kelly in Medway High School’s production of Broadway musical “Newsies” in March. Alongside her contributions to the stage, Nora is also a dedicated student-athlete, playing on the school’s lacrosse team.
“Nora embodies the spirit of a scholar-athlete and artist,” said Principal Dr. Murray. “Not only is she excelling musically at the All-Eastern level, but she’s also leading our spring musical and making contributions on the lacrosse field. Congratulations to Nora and we wish her success with her performance together with the ensemble in Connecticut.”
Principal Murray also congratulated Nora and thanked her teachers for preparing her for this opportunity.
“Nora’s selection to the All-Eastern Treble Choir is a testament to her hard work and passion for music,” Principal Murray said. “We are thrilled to see Nora represent Medway High School on such a prestigious stage. Her achievement highlights the importance of supporting the arts in education.”
