Robert T. “Tom” Walsh, 77, of Dennis, MA passed away peacefully at Cape Cod Hospital with the love of his life, Linda, by his side. Tom was the beloved husband of Linda M. (DeBaggis) Walsh, with whom he shared over 53 years of marriage with.
Born on August 25, 1947 in Providence, RI, Tom was the son of the late Robert and Barbara Walsh. He spent his childhood in Attleboro, MA, living at 10 Cote St, as the eldest of 10 children. Tom graduated from Bishop Feehan High School’s first class in 1965. He was a two-time captain of Feehan’s boys’ basketball team and continued his relationship with the school until his last days. After graduating from Feehan, Tom enrolled at Providence College, graduating there in 1969. He also received his MBA from Bryant College. Tom enlisted in the Navy in 1970 and served during the Vietnam era while stationed in Keflavik, Iceland. After being discharged from the Navy, Tom and Linda lived in Franklin, MA and Telford, PA before ultimately settling in North Attleboro, MA, living there for nearly 40 years. In 2015, they moved on a full-time basis to Dennis, MA. They enjoyed vacationing throughout the United States and Europe. Recently, they had really enjoyed their annual trips to St. Augustine, FL.
Tom was employed at Texas Instruments, Enterprise Technology and Funai USA, working in a number of different roles throughout his professional career. He traveled for work often, including several trips to Japan, China and Hong Kong. He was a very well-rounded person, and he cherished all of his time with his family. He was an extremely devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. An avid sports fan, he had season tickets to the New England Patriots for 30 seasons. You could often hear his voice near any basketball court, football field, and baseball diamond throughout the greater Attleboro area and beyond. He loved to read and play golf in his spare time. Tom was a great communicator and always had interest in learning about other people. He loved coaching sports and had iconic nicknames for many of the players he coached.
In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by his loving children Greg Walsh and his wife Sarah, and Matthew Walsh and his wife Danielle, all from Franklin, MA. He was an incredible grandfather to Brooke, Shane, Kyle, Benjamin and Lucas Walsh.
He is also survived by his siblings, Mike Walsh of Narragansett, RI, Maureen Houghton of Attleboro, MA, Kevin Walsh of Attleboro, Neil Walsh of Cape Coral, FL, Brian Walsh of Westbrook, ME, Patrice Braza of Attleboro and Dennis Walsh of Attleboro. Additionally, Tom was an uncle to 30 nieces and nephews.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Barbara Walsh, brothers Stephen and Jeffrey Walsh, and his daughter, Baby Girl Walsh.
Calling hours are Sunday, March 16th, 12-3pm at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St, Franklin.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Franklin, at 10am on Monday, March 17th.Burial with military honors will follow at the parish cemetery.
