With the polls open at 6 am, one of the liveliest town elections in recent memory comes to a head today with traditional 'day of' voting expected to yield a strong turnout.
In addition to the 15 candidates for 9 Town Council seats, the Board of Health race, usually somnolent, has now attracted a third write-in candidate, Bob Meyers, a resident of town for some 27 years.
And, according to Town Clerk Nancy Danello, the half of the parking lot closest to the Franklin High School gymnasium (to the left side of the building looking in from Oak Street) is reserved for voters. The loop area closest to the building is reserved for veterans and
the front parking spots facing the school are reserved for handicap
parking. All candidates have been asked to park at Franklin Middle School. Schools are on a half-day schedule so parking should be even easier later in the day. Polls are open until 8 pm.
