Traffic troubles were the order of the day on Interstate 495 in and around Franklin on Friday. The first big problem was reported a bit before 9 am on 495 southbound approaching the 1A interchange. It was a multivehicle crash with injuries. Franklin units and many other responded, ultimately sending five ambulances to Milford Regional and U Mass Memorial in Worcester over the following hour.
That traffic disruption was followed by ever-worsening north- and south-bound traffic levels associated with Black Friday traffic around the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets. By mid-afternoon, it was reportedly a two-hour wait to get into the parking lot and the traffic, slowed nearly to a halt for miles on both sides of the highway, led to some novel solutions, like the motorists shown above opting to reverse at least some of the traffic flow.
