Eager Beavers at Chilson Beach Tuesday Morning

Early Tuesday morning, an alert Franklin reader shared photos of perhaps two dozen trucks, mostly rental vehicles from Rhode Island, lined up in the parking area of Chilson Beach on Beaver Pond.

What's going on, they asked?

We didn't know so we inquired of Ryan Jette, Director of the Town Recreation Department, who runs programs at the location throughout the warmer months.

It was news to him, too, but he promised to find out. And he did.

Jette learned that there is a logistics company off of Kenwood Circle that provides delivery services for  Amazon. "They have so many vehicles this time of year that they are parked on both sides of Kenwood Circle making it difficult for other trucks to navigate the road," he explained. However,  "Using our lot to stage their vehicles is not something I am in favor of so Gus Brown [Franklin Building Commissioner] reached out to the company to inform them that they should seek an alternate plan," Jette continued.

"The company spokesperson got back to us and said they will discontinue this practice moving forward," Jette added.

Jette said it is important for the Town to enforce the policy otherwise, `the next thing you know its an Amazon and FedEx hub for all of Grove Street!'
