Sixteen Medway High School students have been selected to perform in this year's Central District Massachusetts Music Educators' Association Senior Festival following auditions that were held in November.
This year, students from 57 schools were selected for the festival ensembles. Those who qualified earned their seats by performing solo repertoire, required scales or rudiments and a sight-reading piece before an adjudicator.
Festival rehearsals will take place at North Middlesex Regional High School on Jan. 14 and 16. The festival will conclude with a performance at Mechanics Hall in Worcester on Jan. 17.
Students who received a recommendation will move onto the next round at Grafton High School on Jan. 24, where they will audition for the MMEA All-State ensembles.
The Medway Public Schools community congratulates these students for their work and dedication.
"We are incredibly proud of these students," said Medway High School Band Director Amanda Webster. "Their dedication and hard work in rehearsal and at auditions show the strength of our music program. We are excited to watch these students represent Medway at the Senior Festival."
"Congratulations to our students on this well-deserved recognition," said Principal John Murray. "Their commitment to their craft and to the Medway Public Schools community is inspiring, and we look forward to seeing them perform at the festival."
