Thomasina "Tommie" Reardon peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at the age of 94. She was surrounded with love as her children, grandchildren, and aides cared for her in her final days. After listening to Sunday Mass, the rosary, and a playlist of her favorite Frank Sinatra and John Denver songs, she passed while listening to the final verses of Rocky Mountain High.
Tommie grew up in Pearl River, NY, the daughter of Tom and Mildred Dexter. As a child she loved to tap dance to Shirley Temple songs. In high school she was a majorette for the school marching band and was known for her baton twirling skills and participation in all the women's sports. While in high school, Tommie helped her dad develop a natural color printing process enabling Tom to found Dexter Press which became the preeminent post card printing company in the world.
Tommie graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in Business and Commerce. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and often told stories of the fun she had at her sorority parties. Her frequent requests to her father for party dresses finally resulted in the receipt of a sewing machine and fabric after the purchase of numerous gowns. After graduation, Tommie opened a sales office in Manhattan for Dexter Press. By coincidence, the office was located one block away from the Lord & Taylor department store, to the delight of Tommie.
At her sister Dorothy's wedding she met a handsome young man. It was love at first sight and soon Tommie married Robert "Bob" Reardon of Medway, MA. Tommie and Bob ultimately settled in New City, NY where their five children Tom, Rob, Patricia, Aileen, and Dan were raised. The house was full of love, happiness, and the beautiful chaos associated with very busy children. Every year, Tommie and Bob took a one week vacation in the Caribbean for a breather and to renew the love they had for each other while dancing the rumba.
Tommie, Bob, and the kids relocated to Atlanta in the fall of 1978 settling into a home in Sandy Springs. Life focused on family, church, and neighborhood activities. Tommie and Bob will be remembered for the wonderful Christmas parties held at their home for friends and neighbors. They even had snow, collected from the Zamboni at a nearby skating rink, to cover the front steps to enhance the Christmas spirit.
Upon retiring, Tommie and Bob moved to East Cobb and had a house built to enable their children and grandchildren to visit for holidays. There were 15 grandchildren and ultimately 13 great-grandchildren that blessed their lives. Annual summer vacations in Cape Cod where the family would get together created strong family bonds amongst the cousins that hold firm to this day.
After their children were grown, Tommie and Bob traveled the world. They visited every continent with the exception of Antarctica. As an adopted daughter of the South, Tommie was known to say, "Why would anyone want to go to such a cold place?" Tommie's favorite place to visit was Paris. She loved Impressionist paintings, especially the works of Monet.
Because they could not stand still, in retirement Tommie and Bob started their own business selling postcards to customers in the Caribbean. Bob was the photographer, Tommie was the graphic designer, and they tag teamed the sales efforts. They established an impressive customer list drawing on their past customer relationships from Dexter Press. With two business trips a year throughout the Caribbean during the coldest months in Atlanta, because of course the sky was bluest for photography purposes at that time of year, Tommie and Bob worked hard during the day, but the evenings were reserved for dinner and dancing.
Tommie and Bob were members of the Catholic Church of St. Ann in East Cobb. Tommie enjoyed the Little Rock Scripture Study weekly classes and Apple Annie's every Christmas. The parishioners of St. Ann's have been so kind to Tommie these recent years with visits to the house for communion and frequent notes of support. The neighborhood families have been wonderful supporting the family since Tommie's passing and provided great comfort to Tommie these past eleven years since Bob's death. Tommie has always deeply missed Bob since his passing. Tommie is survived by her five children, 15 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Her sister, Barbara, with whom she shared a wonderful relationship, also survives Tommie.
