Once again, according to organizers of the Franklin July 4 Festival, Garelick Farms is pitching in to help, providing a giant refrigerated trailer to keep the wide assortment of food and drinks offered, nice and cold, no matter how hot the weather gets. And this year, during part of the festivities, Garelick will have a pop up tent with staff passing out samples of their chocolate milk.
"We’re proud to be part of the Franklin community, as this is where our team lives and works. Supporting the Fourth of July celebration is something we look forward to each year, and providing the refrigerated trailer is just one way we can pitch in," said Brad Lahrman, General Manager. "It’s important to us to show up and support the people and organizations that make this community special."
Garelick, now part of Dairy Farmers of America, has deep roots in Franklin. According to the company website, it all started with two brothers and a dream. In 1931, Israel and Max Garelick borrowed $10,000 to buy a farm in then-rural Franklin. They initially bought and sold cattle, but soon grew to milking cows and selling milk.
Today, Garelick Farms® is 100% farmer-owned and is among the largest regional dairies in the United States, supporting local farmers throughout New England and Upstate New York. While the family has grown from two brothers to over 1,600 employees.
