Lanternflys Land in Medway

The Mass. Dept. of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) has confirmed the presence of the invasive Spotted Lanternfly (nymph stage) here in Medway.
Are they dangerous to people or pets? No! They do not bite or sting.  They gather in large numbers, damage trees/plants (like maples, grapevines, and hops), and leave behind a sticky residue.  You may see state (MDAR) or federal (USDA) surveyors out in town checking trees to map the area. If you spot one, don't let it ride! Take a photo and report it directly to MDAR’s reporting tool
Link to public service announcements about spotted lanternfly are on the Mass. Dept. of Agricultural Resources YouTube page.
